Whole Foods is under construction in Bradburn Village in Westminster.

Construction has begun on a 35,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market in Bradburn Village in Westminster, officials announced today.

The new Whole Foods will be located at the southeast corner of Vrain Street and West 120th Avenue, the last remaining parcel of land available for retail/commercial development in the walkable, New Urbanism-styled community.

The  store will be a relocation of the current Whole Foods Market at West 92nd Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard.

While Bradburn’s developer, Continuum Partners, still has plans for a final phase of residential development (with as many as 90 townhomes to be built), the addition of Whole Foods is being welcomed.

“We are excited about this new opportunity and look forward to becoming even more connected to the city of Westminster,” said Will Paradise, president of Whole Foods Market’s Rocky Mountain Region.

“Each of our stores are designed to reflect the unique character of the surrounding community,” Paradise said. “This store will be different than any other store we’ve built to date, and will be one that local residents can truly call their own.”

The city is happy that Whole Foods is not leaving Westminster.

“We are very pleased Whole Foods Market has opted to bring the City of Westminster an expanded and modernized offering,” said Brent McFall, City Manager of Westminster. “We worked closely with Continuum to insure Whole Foods Market will be able to continue to serve the citizens of Westminster for another 20 years”.

“The addition of Whole Foods Market to Bradburn Village is the perfect capstone to a project which set a new bar for walkable, mixed use suburban development in the region,” said Mark Falcone, principal of Continuum.

“Bradburn has fulfilled every possible expectation we had for the neighborhood when we began planning it in 2000,” Falcone continued.

“Residents do walk to get coffee, take their kids to the schools or go meet one of their neighbors for a refreshment on their front porch”.

The target date for the opening of the Whole Foods Market at Bradburn Village is mid-December 2014.

Today, Bradburn Village is has  740 homes set in four distinct neighborhoods that provide a variety of designs, styles and experiences ranging from near-urban to near-rural.

Bradburn Village also includes 120,000 square feet of retail and restaurants, with a pedestrian-friendly, small town feel. Additional amenities include nine community parks, one of the largest nature preserves and trail systems in the north metro area, two separate recreation centers, two community schools and a church.
